How To Build Motivation To Go To The Gym

    Last updated 7 months ago

Motivation to hit the gym can fluctuate. With other pressures, such as work and family, some of us find it difficult to maintain the enthusiasm. In this video, World Natural Bodybuilding Champion Jason Barnett explains how gym goers or those working with personal trainers can remain motivated.

    Consistency

He says consistency is the most important factor when it comes to achieving your goals. If you skip gym after every excuse, your goals move further and further away and further motivation can often prove difficult. A consistent workout, the video explains, will help you do your daily tasks more easily, such as running for that bus or walking up the stairs.

    Ditch The Daggy Workout Gear

As crazy as it sounds, if you feel you look good while working out your chances of working out more often will increase, as will your motivation. Wear body-flattering gear that is also comfortable to make yourself feel more in the fitness zone.

    Choose The Right Workout Music

Putting together a list of your favourite music can also get you in the mood for a big workout. Barnett also says to use your favourite magazines for inspiration, book a holiday in an exotic location, select a training environment you enjoy visiting, get a training partner and view inspirational movies.

Make Training Count By Adding Swiss Ball Workouts

    Last updated 7 months ago

If you are stuck for inspiration when it comes to exciting and varied personal training routines, why not give the Swiss ball a try? Using a Swiss ball in your client workout routines can result in several benefits. While most of us undertake the normal weights and cardio training, introducing a Swiss ball into your daily routines is a smart move, as exercises are not only fun, but a sure-fire way to help clients achieve their fitness goals.

Learning How to Use Swiss Balls

A Swiss ball is initially difficult to become accustomed to; it can roll around endlessly and be tough to control. What this requires though is the body to call on different muscles to stabilise the ball. If you keep at it, the chances of your co-ordination increasing will be better and it will mean you could build more strength around your core.

How Swiss Balls Strengthen Core Muscles

Oblique muscles are called into action because of the instability of the ball, which allows your abdominal muscles to experience a full range of motion. Using a Swiss ball will also help improve those all-important core muscles. The ball requires the muscles to constantly contract while helping to improve balance. A Swiss ball also calls the weaker side of your body into action, meaning you are developing both sides at the same rate.

Everything You Need To Know About Lactic Acid

    Last updated 7 months ago

Lactic acid is the buzzword in training circles and has developed into a well-worn phrase. Put simply, if you are experiencing muscle discomfort during a training session, this is caused by rising levels of lactic acid. But is this good or bad for you? How can it be controlled? These answers are still under debate, but personal trainers should be ready to answer any questions clients may have about these muscle pains.

What Causes A Build-Up of Lactic Acid?

The less oxygen in your body, the more pronounced the effects of a build-up of lactic acid. Another name for it is milk acid and it is a chemical made up of hydrogen, oxygen and carbon. When your body has necessary oxygen, you will experience no discomfort, but if you don’t it can take a while for the acid to escape the body.

    Prevention

Whether lactic acid is good or bad for you has been the source of much debate. Over decades, most with a voice have cited the negatives of lactic acid, but recent research is trending differently. The school of thought is that lactic acid enables the muscles to perform a critical function – the ability to exercise harder and for an extended period, of course, builds health and fitness. No one should exercise beyond a sensible level, but hard work is necessary for success. Training too hard will result in too much lactic acid forming, which will cause the body an unnecessary level of pain.

Among the leading ways to prevent lactic acid is to simply develop your fitness levels. The fitter you are, the less glucose you need to dispense of, meaning less acid will accumulate in the body.

How To Ensure Your Clients Don't Leave After One Session

    Last updated 7 months ago

Part of being a successful trainer is building trust with clients and helping them on their road to transformation. Person trainers gain satisfaction from witnessing, first hand, development in not only their client’s fitness levels, but their attitude towards shedding those unwanted kilos. This video discusses how those who have undertaken personal training courses in Brisbane can keep hold of their customers, which will ensure they can continue to help them gain positive results.

Dennis Price discusses the importance of marketing, including business cards and brochures. Networking is also extremely vital if you hope to build your client base. Providing a good service to your client may mean they refer others to you. It is the most effective way of building your reputation within the industry.

The video explains that there are three ways to ensure clients return – by making sure they get the results they came for, their motivation factors and the relationship you develop with them. Improving your time management will also allow you to move into doing classes with couples or families and even full-scale classes in areas such as yoga and kickboxing, which are very popular among the gym fraternity.

In addition to just being a personal trainer, you can move into areas like education and teaching people how to eat right. Moving into product sales, such as protein supplements, is another option for those who have done personal training courses in this area.

The Best Cardio Equipment To Use For Fat Loss

    Last updated 7 months ago

As a working personal trainer, you’ll find many of your clients will want to train for fat loss. With this goal in mind, regardless of the programme specifics, one equation is all that matters: caloric input versus caloric output. In truth, any increase in activity and decrease in caloric intake will do the trick when it comes to weight loss, but there are many options when training clients in the gym that will help you to achieve this.

Long term, aerobic or cardio based activates like walking, jogging, swimming or team sports strengthen and improve your client’s cardio vascular system, and are also great for weight loss. Due to the way our bodies convert our energy stores into fuel for exercise low intensity cardio is the quickest way to burn up the excess fats stored in the body. Along with cardio, make sure you include both resistance training and flexibility training in your client’s programmes.

Some of the best cardio machines that will burn fat are the stepper, elliptical walker, and stationary bicycle. These are all low impact machines and are an excellent way to add variety to a training schedule. As Marc highlights in the video, we are so used to walking that these simple exercises can be an excellent way to cross-train a client’s body into a positive response.
